Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović mentioned that there is a possibility of a visit from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to Montenegro in the near future.
This statement was made to the press following a ceremony held by the President’s office, the Ministry of Defense, and the Capital City to commemorate May 9 – Victory Day over Fascism.
When asked about the potential visit from Zelensky, Milatović emphasized that Montenegro’s stance on Ukraine has been very definitive since the onset of the conflict.
“While I won’t confirm anything officially at this point, I can indicate that there is a possibility of hosting Zelensky soon,” said Milatović.
If Zelensky visits Montenegro, he would also engage with other Montenegrin officials.
Milatović suggested that there could be an opportunity to sign several agreements, including a friendship pact between Montenegro and Ukraine, alongside other documents currently being drafted by the Montenegrin government.
According to Milatović, this visit would serve to reaffirm the ongoing friendship between Montenegro and Ukraine.
Moreover, Milatović announced that European Council President Antonio Košta is scheduled to visit Montenegro on May 14, following his invitation.
“This is significant for Montenegro and further evidence of the trust European leaders place in our nation,” Milatović stated.
He reiterated that now is an ideal moment for Montenegro to make substantial progress on its European integration.
“As you can see, I’m tirelessly advocating for this, and my invitation to Košta, along with his upcoming visit on May 14, supports this goal,” Milatović said.
