Suspect Detained Following Assault on Selaković

A man has been apprehended by police in Belgrade on suspicion of assaulting Serbian Culture Minister Nikola Selaković last night.
According to Ivica Dačić, Serbia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, “Officers from the Criminal Police Directorate, Crime Suppression Service, acting on the orders of the First Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade, located and arrested the assailant of Minister Nikola Selaković, identified as MT (1985) from Belgrade, in his residence. This action was taken based on suspicions of his involvement in a criminal offense related to endangering security.”
RTS reported that the suspect’s clothing from the night of the incident was recovered from MT’s apartment, which is situated close to where the attack occurred.
He is expected to be detained for up to 48 hours before being presented to the appropriate prosecutor’s office with a formal criminal complaint, as indicated in the statement.
