The leader of the “Love, Faith, Hope” movement and host of KTV, Nemanja Šarović, has been released following his earlier detention during a live broadcast from Pionirski Park in Belgrade. Members of the “Students 2.0” association had spent the previous night in tents outside the Serbian Presidency building.

KTV’s Facebook page announced that Šarović is in good health, following concerns that he had been taken to the Emergency Unit after feeling unwell.

He later joined the protest at Republic Square.

During the live broadcast, plainclothes police officers initially asked Šarović to leave the park for “violating public order,” a request he declined.

“I will not leave (the rally), as I am not infringing on anyone’s rights, and I urge you to proceed,” stated Šarović, after which the plainclothes officer contacted uniformed police via Motorola.

Subsequently, an officer from the Ministry of Internal Affairs requested Šarović’s ID, citing a looming threat of “severe public disorder,” suggesting a risk to Šarović’s safety.

Šarović claimed that those assembled in the park were “insulting him and pouring coffee on him,” asserting he was not afraid and deemed the demand for identification as unlawful.

“I have the right to be here and I am exercising that right… I was not violent at any point, and it is your duty to ensure my safety,” he told the police.

During this exchange, uniformed police arrived and took Šarović into custody, forcibly placing him into a vehicle.

Danijel Radić, KTV’s owner, then urged citizens to convene in front of the Serbian Parliament.

SSP Calls for Immediate Release of Šarović

Borko Stefanović, Deputy President of the Freedom and Justice Party (SSP), proclaimed that the party demands Šarović’s immediate release.

He noted that Šarović, as a journalist, engaged with individuals posing as students who are camping in front of the Presidency with demands for educational continuity.

“In a survey conducted among the assembled individuals, Šarović discovered that some ‘students’ were not actually students—some had no grades in their index—yet were allegedly demanding to continue their education, alongside students from private faculties who are not even on strike and have no justification for being present among those wishing to ‘study’,” Stefanović stated.

He emphasized that Šarović’s report indicated that all gathered had identical tents and equipment, new lamps, and gas cylinders for heating, evidencing that the regime aimed to mislead the public by staging a false student protest for manipulation.

“The purpose of this deception is to fabricate an illusion of support for Vučić’s policies from the academic community, diverting attention from the genuine demands of students,” concluded Stefanović.
