Montenegrin Water Polo Team Triumphs in Final Test Ahead of European Championship

The Montenegro water polo national team achieved a strong victory in their final control match ahead of the European Championship, which kicks off on January 4 in Croatia.
The “Sharks” triumphed over Georgia in Kotor with a score of 15:8 (4:2, 5:2, 4:1, 2:3).
Prior to facing the Georgians, Montenegro also secured wins against the Netherlands, Australia, and France, with their only loss coming against Italy after five rounds.
Under the guidance of Vladimir Gojković, the team showcased excellent performance from the middle of the second to the middle of the third quarter, achieving a 6:0 run that gave them a 12:4 advantage.
Aleksa Ukropina stood out as the top scorer with four goals, while Marko Mršić and Konstantin Averka netted two each. Draško Brguljan, Vlado Popadić, Stefan Vidović, Đuro Radović, Miroslav Perković, Vladan Spaić, and Dušan Banićević contributed one goal each.
Notably, former Montenegrin national team player Stefan Pješivac made two appearances for the Georgian team.
The “Sharks” will head to Dubrovnik on January 2 to compete in the group stage of the European Championship.
They will face France first in Group A on January 4 at 5:45 p.m., followed by a match against Spain on January 7 at 8:20 p.m., and finally Croatia on January 9 at 7:00 p.m.
The top two teams from the group will secure direct spots in the quarterfinals.
