Borovinić Bojović Continues as Leader of the Union of Municipalities Assembly
The Speaker of the Podgorica Parliament, Jelena Borovinić Bojović, has been re-elected as the President of the Assembly of the Union of Municipalities of Montenegro (ZOCG). Meanwhile, Samir Agović, the President of the Municipality of Petnjica, has been appointed as the Vice-President of this organization.
According to the ZOCG announcement, Petar Odžić, the President of the Budva Municipal Assembly, has been chosen as a member of the Supervisory Board.
In her remarks following the re-election, Borovinić Bojović expressed gratitude and reiterated her commitment to diligently fulfill her responsibilities as President of the Assembly of the Association of Montenegro.
“The trust you have placed in me compels me to treat everyone fairly and without distinction, and I will certainly apply this philosophy in my future work,” said Borovinić Bojović.
Agović highlighted the significance and role of the ZOCG, noting that the unity among its members in safeguarding their interests exemplifies effective collaboration under the auspices of the ZOCG.
The statement indicated that discussions were held during the Assembly of the Republic of Montenegro session with Minister of Public Administration, Maraš Dukaj, concerning the concept of the local elections law.
Dukaj remarked that it is crucial for local self-government units to be fully engaged in the electoral reform process, emphasizing that these reforms are being pursued for the benefit of local self-governments.
Dukaj also noted that the concept welcomes all enhanced solutions.
He expressed confidence, as noted in the statement, that there is general agreement on conducting elections on a single day, and they are prepared to address other matters to establish a broad consensus.
“What’s important is that we have taken the first step,” Dukaj emphasized.
