Montenegrin handball players have demonstrated an incredible spirit of perseverance, and I am delighted that they have taken a significant step toward the World Championship, stated Prime Minister Milojko Spajić.
“The lions played three outstanding matches and deserved far more than just one win at the European Championship,” Spajić shared on the X social media platform. He noted that, due to many obligations in Davos, he missed witnessing the thrilling victory of our handball team.
In the final round of Group C at Euro 2024, Montenegro triumphed over Serbia (30:29) thanks to Nemanja Grbović’s last-second goal, securing their spot in the playoffs for the upcoming World Championship.
This January, our national water polo team also competed in the European Championship, ultimately finishing in sixth place and gearing up for a shot at the Olympic Games during the World Championship, set to commence this February in Doha.
“Soon, we will rally behind the ‘sharks’ once again, cheering them on as they aim for Olympic qualification. They have shown the talent needed to reach Paris in Croatia – we believe in their potential! Best of luck to both the guys and girls; we are wholeheartedly supporting you,” Spajić concluded.
