We will not collaborate with entities that jeopardize the state government’s priorities.
The Europe Now Movement has stated that it will not collaborate with parties in Nikšić that undermine the priorities of the state government, according to Zoran Mrkić, the leader of the party’s list for the local elections.
“In these times, we see prominent figures from certain opposition groups accepting advisory roles in the government, roles they have previously criticized. Additionally, in Budva, we see the parliamentary opposition and members of the former DF protesting the Srebrenica resolution. This clearly illustrates that the opposition lacks principles or ideology, driven instead by an inappropriate craving for positions they have held for over thirty years. If the current mayor of Nikšić, Marko Kovačević, had offered them roles of significance, the opposition would have quickly backed him, just as some from the former DF did in Budva,” stated Mrkić.
He mentioned that the opposition has “defined two objectives” in their election campaign in Nikšić: defeating the constituents of the current state government and inflicting the maximum political damage on PES, by recurring the narrative that a vote for PES equates to a vote for Marko Kovačević.
“However, post-elections, the opposition has not hesitated to publicly invite PES to collaborate, conveniently disregarding the negative campaigning. They forget that a vote for PES has always been a stand against the return of Đukanović’s DPS. In that light, all PES supporters in Nikšić who have seen through various propaganda narratives can be assured that we will not ally with parties that jeopardize state government priorities, including economic development, rule of law, and our country’s European integration. It wouldn’t be surprising if the opposition chooses to support the current mayor of Nikšić, should Kovačević offer them an advisory role,” the statement concludes.
