As time goes by, the Spanish icon remains active—turning 38 this February, yet still performing at an elite level in water polo.
Felipe Perone showcased his skills in the recent match against Montenegro in Fukuoka last summer. This evening (17:45 p.m.) during the second round of the European Championship, he is poised to be a significant threat to our national team.
“Montenegro? They are our major rivals. It’s a youthful team that can be extremely dangerous at the start, so we need to be prepared,” the legendary Spanish water polo player, originally from Rio de Janeiro, shared ahead of today’s Group A showdown in Dubrovnik, according to reports from “Mundo Deportivo”.
In the opening match, Montenegro triumphed over France (20:19) following penalty shootouts, while Spain faced a loss to reigning European champions Croatia in a similar fashion—“fury” coach David Martin took the blame for that loss, leading into the Montenegro match.
“It will be a very challenging game; we knew beforehand that our group would be tough. We must put the defeat against Croatia behind us and refocus for this encounter,” he stated.
