The scoreboard in Gruž displayed a tie of 1:1 with only a minute left in the first quarter, but soon after, the home team demonstrated why they are the reigning European champions and among the best in the world…

Croatia’s water polo team celebrated their second victory at the European Championship, securing a convincing 12:7 win against France, well before the five points.

In the initial quarter, Mišel Bodega matched Marko Bijač at 1:1, but by halftime, Croatia had established an unassailable lead of 5:1 with contributions from Luka Lončar, Rino Burić (two goals), and Anto Vukićević…

Despite some strong attempts, France struggled to close the gap, as the “barracuda” defense remained outstanding throughout the match.

Ultimately, Croatia secured a comfortable five-goal advantage ahead of their crucial clash with Montenegro on Monday at 20:15.

The standout performers for the winning team included Burić (three goals), along with Vukićević, Marko Žuvela, and Luka Lončar (each scoring twice)…

On the opposing side, Toma Verna netted three goals, with Mehdi Marzuki adding two more.

Meanwhile, Group B action unfolded in Zagreb today, with Hungary earning their first victory over Georgia (15:11), while Italy unexpectedly dominated Greece (15:8) at the Sava pool.

“Setebelo” soared on the efforts of Edoardo di Soma, who found the net five times, alongside Emanuilo Cervedes and Panajotis Corcatos, each contributing, with Gonzalo Ećenike also scoring thrice.
