James Tarkowski’s season with Everton is over due to a hamstring injury that necessitates surgery.
Manager David Moyes has indicated that Tarkowski’s rehabilitation could also impact Everton’s preparations for the upcoming 2025/2026 season.
The defender sustained his injury during last weekend’s 2-0 loss to Manchester City at Goodison Park.
“Tarki has been instrumental to our performance lately,” Moyes commented today.
Since signing with Everton in July 2022, the 32-year-old has played in every Premier League match.
Moyes described the loss of Tarkowski for the remaining five Premier League fixtures as a “significant setback.”
The Toffees currently sit in 13th place in the standings and will face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this Saturday.
Tarkowski has been a pivotal figure at Everton, notably scoring a dramatic equaliser against Liverpool in February.
Due to this injury, he will miss two games and fall short of matching Wayne Bridge’s record of 113 consecutive Premier League starts for a player outside the penalty area.
