OSCG and Capital City Partner to Enhance Podgorica’s Volleyball Infrastructure
To further enhance sports and improve training and competition conditions for our athletes, a meeting took place today in the Capital City between Nađa Ljiljanić, the Deputy Mayor, and Nikola Kažić, the President of the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro, along with his team. Also present were Ivan Bošković, the Secretary General of the Federation, national team directors Ksenija Božović and Ivan Ječmenica, and Darko Nikčević, Secretary for Sports representing the Capital City.
The focus of the meeting was to explore the possibility of granting access to the volleyball court at the open sports fields of the Sports and Recreation Center “Morača”. This initiative is designed to enhance the playing conditions for volleyball, foster a better training and competition environment, and promote the sport among the youth, as reported by Odbojka.me.
All meeting participants concurred that the Capital City, alongside relevant sports institutions, should continue to actively support the development of sports infrastructure and assist sports federations in their initiatives and programs.
“The capital acknowledges the importance of advancing sports and establishing quality conditions for the operations of sports organizations and associations. The discussion with representatives from the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro was highly productive, and I am confident that, through collaboration, we will promptly arrive at tangible solutions that will enhance volleyball’s growth in Podgorica. Our aim is to ensure every young person in the capital has access to sports facilities and sees sports as a vital avenue for education, healthy living, and community,” said Ljiljanić.
In the coming days, the capital city will maintain communication with the Volleyball Federation and the Secretariat for Sports to outline the next steps and create the necessary conditions for the successful execution of this initiative.
The meeting also touched on enhancing volleyball infrastructure in the Capital, and a process will soon be initiated to identify a suitable location for constructing a volleyball training center.
Nikola Kažić, the President of the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro, emphasized that, in addition to strategic plans for the future training center, an agreement was reached to refurbish the existing outdoor volleyball court, making it accessible once again to the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro and clubs in Podgorica.
“This decision will provide young athletes with more training space and opportunities for recognition while revitalizing an essential sports venue that has been instrumental in volleyball’s development for years,” concluded Kažić.
