The “students” excelled beyond the 6.75 line against Split, finishing the match of the 24th round of the Admiralbet ABA League with 20 three-pointers from 30 attempts, leading to a score of 102:89.
Petar Mijović’s squad reached a 17-point lead in the second quarter and maintained control throughout the game. When Split came within five points at 81:76 in the final quarter, Igor Drobnjak sealed the game with four crucial three-pointers in the M:tel “Morača” arena.
This marked SC Derby’s second consecutive victory, bringing their record to 9-15, while teams in playoff contention have three more wins.
The Montenegrin team established an impressive lead (41:24) which they maintained after David Mirković’s three-pointer.
SC Derbi showed solid performance afterward, but Antonio Sikirić breathed life into the Split side during the first half of the final quarter. Yet, any lingering doubts were dispelled when Drobnjak struck with four of his five three-pointers.
The “students” point guard successfully netted five long-range shots, while Luka Bogavac and Erik Nil each contributed four three-pointers, and Mirković, Zoran Vučeljić, and Andrija Grbović each added two.
Both Bogavac and Nil were the standout performers with 20 points apiece (Nil also dished out seven assists), followed by Drobnjak with 18 and Vučeljić with 14. On the opposing side, Adam Smith scored 16 points.
In the upcoming round on Sunday, SC Derbi is set to host Igokea.
