The Mayor of Pljevlja, Dario Vraneš, awarded Mira Bajčeta the “Dragana Loncović” prize, recognizing her as the top nurse in Pljevlja for the second consecutive year.
Following the Mayor’s initiative, the Pljevlja Municipal Assembly unanimously established the “Dragana Loncović” award for the best nurse/technician in mid-October 2023, to be presented annually on May 12th, coinciding with International Nurses Day.
This accolade honors exemplary achievements and contributions to advancing the nursing profession, dedicated to humanitarian values, empathy, and selflessness.
The initiation of the “Dragana Loncović” award serves as a token of appreciation for the courageous nurse and a tribute to the dedication of nurses and healthcare professionals in Pljevlja.
Dragana was the first medical worker from Pljevlja to lose her life to COVID-19, having worked in a Covid clinic before passing away on August 16, 2020, at the age of 36.
This year’s recipient has dedicated 46 years to the Surgical Department – Intensive Care at the Pljevlja General Hospital.
Mira has devoted her entire career to this field, never taking a sick day, and has shown incredible commitment to the care of critically ill patients with remarkable humanity and compassion. During the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, she volunteered to transfer to the Infectious Diseases Department to support the most vulnerable individuals.
