Today, another family was left homeless, including minor children and parents with serious disabilities, as reported by the Tenants’ Association of Montenegro.
“They were unable to meet their financial obligations regularly, which led to their eviction without any alternative support or inquiries. There seems to be no compassion for the vulnerable in a country that advocates for the protection of wildlife while ignoring people,” the association stated.
“As the political landscape in Montenegro is consumed by disputes and power struggles, the voices of citizens who struggle for mere survival go unheard and forgotten.”
“We, the tenants of Montenegro—those without roofs over our heads, abandoned by a market that exploits us and a system that neglects us—want to remind society, institutions, and policymakers that we exist. We are not part of the political arena filled with press conferences; we navigate the reality where rents overshadow salaries and where no one cares about our living situation when apartment prices surge overnight. We exist without legal protection, fearing eviction daily, and lack the right to a home, a fundamental human right,” asserted the Tenants’ Association.
As they expressed, “Regardless of our nationality, language, or beliefs, we are unable to live with dignity.”
“Poverty does not discriminate based on religion or ethnicity; it affects us all equally. It stifles our voices, no matter our name, identity, or faith. We all face the same wall of injustice. We urge those in power to address fundamental societal issues. Without a home, security, and equality, there can be no future. We assert our right to a dignified life, to a home that is not a luxury, and to a voice that must be heard,” the Tenants’ Association concluded.
