The last ten parking spots for taxi drivers at Podgorica Airport have been leased by the Zeta-based company “VUK BG” for a monthly fee of 3,400 euros, with an additional 363 euros for a dispatch desk located in the terminal. These spaces were allocated through a public bidding process and are situated in the bus parking area in front of the airport terminal.
This information was officially confirmed to “Vijesti” by the Airport of Montenegro (ACG).
The state-owned company noted that the contract with “VUK BG” is valid for one year, with an option to extend.
“On May 26, 2025, ACG entered into a contract with ‘VUK BG’ from Zeta for leasing ten parking spots in the bus parking area in front of the Podgorica Airport terminal. This agreement also allows for a 1.5 square meter space within the terminal to set up a dispatch desk. The monthly rental is 2,810 euros plus VAT, along with another 300 euros plus VAT for the desk within the airport,” ACG highlighted.
As a result, the taxi services in front of the airport will now be managed by “VUK BG” and the company “TX Zeta”, which was awarded 14 parking spots for 5,810 euros per month earlier this year through a public call. ACG has conducted several public calls for leasing these 24 parking spots for taxi drivers, some of which were canceled due to a lack of valid offers.
The taxi stands at the airport had remained unoccupied after the termination of contracts with former tenants, specifically the Podgorica companies “Halo taksi” and “Royal taksi”, last May. ACG’s Executive Director Roko Tolić explained to “Vijesti” in September that they received a clear directive from the Secretariat for Transport of the Capital City, indicating that taxi drivers from the Podgorica area could no longer hold a license for outbound transport from this airport, enabling them to terminate their contracts without any legal ramifications.
Although the municipalities of Zeta and Podgorica have not been officially separated yet, Zeta highlighted that the airport lies within their territorial jurisdiction, which, according to the Road Transport Act, allows only taxi associations accredited by them with valid license plates to pick up passengers in this area.
In March, the taxi association also commented on the parking situation. Vasilije Maraš, a representative, stated that there was a consensus among taxi drivers from Zeta, ACG management, and the Ministry of Transport that taxi services should be regulated without a tender, permitting the allocation of parking spaces to interested drivers from the Zeta municipality.
The proposed aim is to ensure that all taxi drivers wishing to transport passengers from the airport can do so by purchasing daily or monthly parking tickets in front of Podgorica Airport, with the number of available spaces for taxi drivers potentially increasing from 24 to 50. Maraš noted that the current arrangement allows for passenger services by 24 taxi vehicles from two associations, which is inadequate in light of the airport’s flight and passenger volume.
