In place of a judgment regarding former Real Estate Administration director Dragan Kovačević and other defendants charged with organized crime, the main trial was reopened today.
Judge Zoran Radović announced that the trial is being reinstated to shed light on specific details.
“While deliberating, considering the case’s complexity, we believe the full facts have yet to be determined,” he explained the decision to reopen the trial.
The indictment alleges that Dragan Kovačević participated in forming a criminal organization, along with defendants Ana Lakićević-Grdinić, Veselin Tomašević, Danko Kovačević, Sanja Popović, and Aleksandar Boljević, who are also accused of similar offenses. The legal entity “Geo & Arh” doo Podgorica is similarly charged with forming a criminal organization.
The indictment further claims that Dragan Kovačević constructed a house on cadastral plot KO 105/1, unlawfully occupying a state-owned property of 15 square meters.
Furthermore, it states that Ana Lakićević Grdinić committed the aggravated offense of abuse of official position under counts a, b, and c of the indictment. Dragan Kovačević is also accused of the aggravated offense of abuse of official position through incitement under counts a, b, and c, as well as unlawful land occupation and extortion through incitement. Veselin Tomašević is charged with abuse of official position, while Krsto Pavićević is accused of abusing his position in business operations alongside document forgery. Danko Kovačević is charged with tax and contribution evasion. Dalibor Knežević faces charges of abuse of official position, and both Aleksandar Boljević and Sanja Popović are charged with co-perpetration of extortion. The legal entity “Geo & Arh Projekt” doo Podgorica is charged with abuse of position in business operations connected to document forgery.
Closing arguments in this case were presented before the Podgorica High Court on March 31st, with the first-instance decision anticipated on April 29th.
