This season, the Budućnost Bemax handball team has struggled to display the desired gameplay and energy, making their upcoming match against Sweden’s Savehof a critical opportunity, according to right back Tanja Ivanović.
Budućnost Bemax will face Savehof on Friday in the 12th round of the competition.
Savehof remains the only team in the group without any points in the preliminary rounds, while Budućnost recorded its sole victory this season against Savehof (31:30).
Ivanović noted that Savehof has shown improvement throughout the season, but she remains confident about securing another win.
“It’s essential for us to enjoy the game without feeling pressured and to make the most of this opportunity. Savehof has a young and athletic squad that has improved over the season. I anticipate that we will achieve a second victory against them,” Ivanović stated.
She emphasized the importance of competing in the Champions League and preparing for the national team tournament in April.
Left back Kalidiatu Niakata from France expressed her belief that Budućnost can clinch a second win in the Champions League.
“We have thoroughly prepared for this match, and I expect us to win. It’s going to be tough since Savehof also aims for a victory. The outcome will be determined on the field, but I believe we are ready and can secure those two points. We performed well against Djerba in the last round, with excellent goalkeeping and promising contributions from the younger players. Maintaining focus throughout the match is crucial for us to achieve a good result,” Nijakate said.
The matchup between the Swedish and Montenegrin champions is scheduled to kick off at 20:45.
