The Budučnost Bemax handball team has three remaining matches in the Champions League. Their hope of advancing to the round of 16 was mathematically extinguished weeks ago, so now that the pressure is off, they aim to make the most of their final international games this season.

Tonight at 20:45, the women from Podgorica will take on Savehof in Sweden, one of the two teams (along with Zaglebje from Poland) yet to score a point in the first rounds.

Savehof is the only rival Budučnost has defeated this season, with a close 31:30 victory during their match at the “Bemax Arena” in late September. In addition to that win, the Montenegrin champions have recorded a draw with Brest and suffered nine defeats.

– Savehof features a core group of players who have been collaborating for an extended period. They operate seamlessly, play a fast-paced game, and are undoubtedly better prepared now than during our first encounter in Podgorica. This was evident in their recent match against Bittigheim, where they maintained the lead nearly until the end – stated Bojana Popović.

Consistent defense remains essential for success.

– We’ll give our utmost effort, and I hope all players are in good health as we’ve faced some illness this week. It will be challenging; I anticipate a back-and-forth match. The girls need to match the performance they showed against Djero, and everything else will follow – remarked the legendary handball player.

Following the game in Sweden, Budučnost will host Odense on February 10, with their final match taking place on the 17th of this month against Bittigheim in Germany.
