The President of North Macedonia, Gordana Siljanovska Davkova, emphasized that accountability for the disaster at the Kočani disco must be upheld without exception.

“We are all in disbelief, and I share this sentiment: as a mother, as a human being, and as your president. The dreadful tragedy in Kočani feels unreal,” stated Siljanovska Davkova in her address to the public regarding the recent fire at a disco in Kočani, which resulted in 59 young lives lost and numerous injuries.

She mentioned that earlier today, she visited the hospitals where she encountered the parents of the injured, filled with hope and faith in the medical professionals, and like them, she trusts that everything possible—and more—will be done to assist their loved ones.

“I know we are not alone in this; kindness has come from our neighbors as well as from further abroad. The severely injured individuals are being transferred to specialized facilities in Bulgaria, Serbia, Greece, and Turkey for advanced medical treatment. Generous people from across the region, Europe, and around the globe stand with us. This act of compassion will never be forgotten, and we will remain eternally grateful,” she expressed.
