Two Arrested After Children Rescued from Human Trafficking in Sanski Most
Authorities in Sanski Most arrested two individuals suspected of human trafficking, as reported by the Una-Sana Canton Prosecutor’s Office on March 17th.
The Prosecutor’s Office revealed that they had received reports from the Sanski Most Police Department regarding several Roma children, aged between one and six years, who had been residing in a family home in a residential area for an extended time.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, there are suspicions that “they may have been victims of human trafficking.” Acting on a directive from the Municipal Court in Sanski Most, a search was conducted at the family residence.
“Four minor children, suspected to be of Roma descent, were discovered at the location. The prosecutor on duty issued an order to detain two individuals based on reasonable suspicion of committing the criminal offense of human trafficking,” the Prosecutor’s Office stated.
The Sanski Most Social Work Center, which took custody of the children, was also notified of the situation.
Following a medical evaluation, the children were transferred to a secure facility within the Una-Sana Canton.
In late February, 31 children were discovered in a private residence in the Brčko District, suspected to be victims of human trafficking.
This discovery led to the apprehension of eight individuals on charges of human trafficking, neglect, and child abuse, with two of them receiving sentences of one month in custody.
