The handball team of Budućnost Bemax is set to continue its journey in the Champions League this Saturday, facing the Danish team Odense in a home match.
Odense currently holds the second position in Group A, boasting eight victories, three losses, and one draw.
The Montenegrin team has secured two wins against Savehof, alongside a draw and nine defeats.
In their previous encounter, Odense emerged victorious with a score of 39:24 at home.
Pivot player Andrijana Popović acknowledged Odense’s stature as a formidable team, highlighting their diverse and skilled defense.
“Our primary focus will be on overcoming their defensive strategies. With the recent points we’ve earned, our energy is more positive now. We aim to correct the mistakes from our previous match against them. It won’t be easy, but we must improve our focus on attack, be more decisive, and capitalize on every opportunity,” said Andrijana.
She mentioned that the Podgorica club is facing a fresh challenge and expressed confidence in their readiness.
“Starting strong in defense to limit easy goals will certainly aid our offense. We need to display aggression from the outset, as it’s something Scandinavian teams struggle against. We must come together as a unit and play for one another,” Popović emphasized.
Left winger Nađa Kadović remarked on Odense’s threat during counterattacks, a lesson Budućnost learned during their time in Denmark.
“We’ve had a tough week, with several players feeling under the weather, and our training has been limited to four-on-four sessions. Nevertheless, we are analyzing, fighting, and know what to focus on. They might not have big names, but they possess teamwork,” said Kadović.
She also noted that the away victory against Savehof was significant for them, especially the younger players.
“We stood tall and demonstrated our capabilities,” Kadović concluded.
The match this Saturday at the Bemax arena will kick off at 18:00.
