The upcoming match in this season’s Champions League, and their final home game, sees the handball players of Buducnost Bemax face off against Odense. Currently sitting in second place, the Danes are on track to secure a spot in the quarterfinals, while the “blues” aim only to make a mark in these last two matches and gather as many points as possible.

Under the guidance of Bojana Popović, the team has managed to secure two victories over Sweden’s Savehof in the elite competition, alongside a draw with Brest in France, yet they have faced nine defeats.

– Odense is known for its strong defense, which will be our primary focus. We are feeling more energized after our win against Savehof, and we aim to improve and correct the mistakes we made in our first match against them. It won’t be an easy task, but we must concentrate on our offense, show determination, and capitalize on every opportunity – stated pivot player Andrijana Popović.

The match against Odense at the “Bemax Arena” is set to begin at 18:00.

– If we can start strong defensively and limit easy goals, it will definitely ease our offensive play. We need to demonstrate aggressiveness from the first minute, as Scandinavian teams don’t respond well to that. We must come together as a unit – added Popović.

Left winger Nađa Kadović highlighted the threat posed by Odense’s counterattacks. Buducnost suffered a heavy defeat in their first meeting in Denmark, losing by 15 points with a score of 39:24.

– We’ve just come off a challenging week, as several players were unwell. Training has been tough with only four players available, but we keep pushing, fighting, and analyzing… I believe we know what we need to focus on. While Odense may not feature big-name players, they work well as a cohesive unit – Nađa Kadović stated clearly.

Buducnost will conclude their Champions League campaign on February 17 when they face Bittigheim.
