Players of Budućnost triumphed over Arsenal with a score of 5:0 last night in the 30th round of the MeridianBet First Montenegrin Football League, bringing them closer to securing the title.
With six rounds left, Ivan Brnović’s squad holds a 17-point lead over Petrovac, and in the next match against Bokelj SBBet in Kotor, they require just one point to clinch a record seventh title.
From the outset, Budućnost showcased their superiority, with goals from Lazar Mijović, Ivan Bulatović, Nedeljko Piščević, Andrej Kostić, and Ilija Serikov.
“The match was challenging in the first half; during the initial 25 minutes, nothing particularly effective happened as there were many interruptions and fouls. We struggled to adapt… We are typically accustomed to playing at our own pace,” said Budućnost coach Ivan Brnović on the club’s website after the match.
Buducnost managed to score the first goal at a crucial moment before going on to secure a convincing victory.
“Our passing accuracy wasn’t up to par, but scoring before half-time eased our game. When we find the net, we play much more freely. Arsenal tried to increase their pressure in the second half, and we usually capitalize on such opportunities. This game reflects our dominance throughout the championship – a comprehensive performance against a very strong rival, especially in the first half.”
This weekend, Buducnost could celebrate the title.
“We are on the verge of winning the title, but we are Buducnost, and regardless of the numbers, we approach every game with the intention of winning, and that will remain our mindset until the season concludes,” Brnović stated.
