The Municipality of Herceg Novi is anticipating the completion of a new bus station in Igalo, with an estimated cost of 9.96 million euros, by the end of this year. The company “Entext Engineering” is currently finalizing the main building and constructing the access road, with the next phase focusing on the station’s interior setup.

This was officially stated to “Vijesti” by officials from the coastal municipality.

Initially, they informed Vijesti in March of the previous year that the project would be finished by this summer. However, they have not clarified whether there have been any delays or missed deadlines. Construction on the main building officially commenced in June 2023, with a 20-month completion deadline set for spring of this year.

The entire development is organized into three phases under the oversight of “Entext Engineering”: the station construction costing 5.68 million euros, its interior equipment costing 3.48 million euros, and the access road construction costing 800,000 euros.

“Recently, the rough construction of the bus station has been completed. We are currently working on final touches which include facade decoration, installation of thermal systems, and fire protection measures. The annex is also nearing completion with stone cladding and joinery in place. The next stage is the equipment installation, ensuring the facility meets the demands of tourists, residents, and business owners. The tender also encompasses the procurement of complete interior furnishings for the operational functionality of a modern bus station. The construction of the access road for the bus station in the Igalo-Bare area is also in progress,” stated the Municipality led by Stevan Katić.

When inquired whether construction would be hindered by summertime restrictions, they noted that while the ban takes effect on June 15 and lasts until September, the bus station’s construction is exempt as it isn’t in the first zone and is considered a matter of public interest that has been awaited for decades by Herceg Novi.

“We expect the new bus station in Igalo to be fully completed by the end of this calendar year, enabling us to welcome tourists to a modern, well-equipped, and spacious station next year, fit for a Mediterranean tourist hub,” they stressed.

The municipality is also planning an Olympic-sized swimming pool near the bus station. This project is set on a plot of land measuring just over 22 square meters, valued at around 20 million euros. It will feature 1,000 seats in the stands, a two-story parking garage with 300 spaces, business premises, a gym, a spa, locker rooms, and conference facilities.
