“Montenegro’s Milestone: Mexico’s All-Time Leading Scorer Marks Club’s First Goal in Over a Century”

He brought immense fighting spirit and energy to Montenegro, but he didn’t deliver the goals expected from a reinforcement for the “Falcons.”
Uroš Đurđević, who has yet to score for our national football team in 12 appearances, stands as the top scorer in the Mexican league.
The striker, who debuted with Montenegro in March 2021 and last played in September 2023, netted 12 goals and assisted three for Atlas during the Clausura of Liga MX.
Paulinho from Toluca and Jose Zuniga from Tijuana share the same number of goals but have fewer assists.
Thus, Djuka became the first player in the history of Atlas to be the top scorer in the Mexican championship.
“In over 100 years of Atlas history, no one has accomplished what Đurđević has done,” reported “Fox Sports”.
Currently, the Montenegrin player enjoys popularity in the league stage, though Liga MX moves on to its playoff phase. Unfortunately, Đurđević and Atlas won’t participate, finishing the championship in 14th place, just three points shy of a playoff spot.
As anticipated, Đurđević didn’t receive a call-up from the new “Falcon” coach, Robert Prosinečki. It’ll be interesting to see if his goal-scoring run in Mexico offers him a chance to don the Montenegrin jersey again.
