The Montenegro national water polo team showcased impressive motivation in their match against Romania, limiting their opponents to minimal threat after a brief three-minute window. They secured a decisive 18:11 victory, advancing to compete for fifth place at the European Championship.
Coach Vladimir Gojković expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance following a tough quarterfinal loss to Italy, which ended 14:8 in favor of “Setebelo.”
“I commend the players for bouncing back after the defeat to Italy and preparing for this match. Despite a shaky start, we gave it our all, and I believe the victory was thoroughly deserved,” stated Gojković.
The next challenge is against Greece on Tuesday at 18:30.
“We’re set to face another top-tier national team,” Gojković added.
Jovan Vujović stepped in for Vladan Spaić at the center position.
“We fulfilled the role of favorites, even with a slow start. We gradually took control, imposed our style, and secured an easy finish to the game,” remarked the Jadran water polo player.
