Woman Injured in Podgorica During Neighbor’s Argument; Attacker Dies by Suicide

A 48-year-old woman from Podgorica was critically injured this evening around 20:00 in the Stara Varoš neighborhood.
The woman sustained serious injuries and was taken to the Clinical Center. After medical intervention, her life is no longer in danger.
Initial reports suggest she was shot by her neighbor, BV, who subsequently fled and is believed to have taken his own life.

The victim was shot while in the yard of her family’s home. Initial police reports indicate it stemmed from a neighborly dispute.
The incident occurred on Spasa Nikolića Street. Authorities are currently investigating to ascertain the motive behind the attack.

The Police Department has released an official statement.
“Officers from the Podgorica Security Department responded to a citizen’s report regarding the use of a firearm at Spasa Nikolića Street No. 28 around 20:00, which resulted in life-threatening injuries to the victim, BB. This incident is believed to have been preceded by a quarrel between neighbors,” the statement noted.

BB was transported to the Emergency Unit of the Clinical Center of Montenegro.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that BB was shot by her neighbor, BV, for reasons believed to be related to the altercation. Given the armed nature of the situation, multiple units of the Police Directorate were dispatched immediately to assess and control the situation. Upon arrival, officers found BV deceased, suspected of having committed suicide by hanging,” they stated.
A firearm was also discovered at the scene.
“The incident has been reported to the Higher State Prosecutor’s Office, and subsequent actions will be carried out in accordance with their directives,” the police confirmed.
