Manchester City triumphed over Aston Villa with a 2-1 victory at home during the 34th round of the Premier League, advancing to third place in the standings.
City opened the scoring in the eighth minute through a goal from Bernardo Silva, but Marcus Rashford leveled the match in the 18th minute with a penalty.
The decisive goal came from Mateus Nunes in the fourth minute of stoppage time, following an impressive run down the left flank and a cross from Jeremy Doku. This marked Nunes’ first Premier League goal for City.
Omar Marmus of City found the net in the 79th minute, but his goal was ruled out for offside.
Following their third consecutive win and 18th overall in the league, City climbed to third in the table with 61 points, holding a point lead and a game in hand over Nottingham Forest in fourth place. Newcastle sits fifth with 59 points, also with a game in hand over City.
Chelsea is in sixth with 57 points, sharing the total with Aston Villa in seventh, although Villa has a game in hand over the London club. The top five Premier League teams will qualify for the Champions League next season.
