Excitement builds as two tickets to Paris hang in the balance—Montenegrin handball players will compete from April 11 to 14 in Ulm for a chance to qualify for the Olympic Games. The pre-Olympic tournament schedule has been announced today.
The “Lionesses” will kick off with a warm-up match against Paraguay on April 11, considered the easiest opponent in their group. Following a day off, they’ll engage in crucial matches ahead.
On April 13, they will face the host nation, Germany, and the next day they will take on Slovenia, under the guidance of former coach Dragan Adzić.
If Bojana Popović’s team secures a top-two finish in the tournament, Montenegro will make its fourth consecutive appearance at the Olympic Games.
Besides the host nation, France, other teams including Norway, Denmark, Brazil, South Korea, and Angola have already qualified for Paris.
Apart from Ulm, other qualification tournaments will take place in Hungary and Spain—Debrecen will host Sweden, Cameroon, and Japan fighting for their Olympic spots, while in Torrevieja, the Netherlands, Czech Republic, and Argentina will vie with the “fury.”
