Approaching a Resolution on the Seven-Hour Workday Reform

Following extensive discussions aimed at creating a balanced model that accommodates the needs of both trade unions and employers, Prime Minister Milojko Spajić announced today that the Government is nearing the finalization of a plan to implement a seven-hour workday.

Starting next week, Minister Naida Nišić will spearhead talks with representatives from unions and employers as part of an ongoing social dialogue. These conversations are anticipated to outline the final details of one of the most ambitious labor reforms in recent years.

The Prime Minister highlighted that the goal of the reform is to enhance the quality of life for citizens, provide more family time, and promote more efficient and productive work practices.

Spajić remarked that, similar to the “Europe Now 1” and “Europe Now 2” economic initiatives, all actions concerning the work-hour reform will proceed only with the complete support of social partners. He voiced confidence that Minister Nišić will make every effort to reach an agreement in a timely manner that aligns with citizens’ expectations and improves the rights and working conditions of employees in Montenegro.
