The prestigious arenas of water polo could have hosted the event, but the European Water Sports Federation (EA, formerly LEN) has opted to hold the final of the premier club competition in Malta.
This nation is set to host the final four of the Champions League this season and the following two seasons, as announced by EA.
The National Pool will welcome the top teams from across Europe.
“The proposal from the Malta Aquatics Association (ASA) fulfills all essential European standards for aquatics and has the complete backing of the Government of Malta,” EA stated.
The Champions League action resumes in March, with eight teams divided into two groups battling for a spot in the final four—the top two teams from each group will secure their passage to Malta.
The first group includes Pro Reko, Novi Beograd, Jadran Split, and Marseille, while the second group features Breša, Barceloneta, Ferencvaros, and Olympiakos.
For the past three seasons, Belgrade served as the host city for the final tournament, where eight teams participated.
