Following a disappointing season, Virtus aims to initiate a new endeavor in the upcoming season, with Duško Ivanović at the helm.
The Montenegrin basketball coach has officially renewed his contract with the Bologna giants for an additional season.
Ivanović joined Virtus in December, stepping in during a tumultuous phase for the Italian team—although he couldn’t navigate the team into the Euroleague, their position in Serie A remains strong ahead of the playoffs.
However, Bologna’s leadership is confident that he will be pivotal in guiding Virtus back to prominence next season.
“Duško has the experience and knows how to collaborate with elite players,” stated Massimo Zanetti, president of Virtus.
Sports director Paolo Ronci echoed this sentiment.
“Having certainty regarding the coach enhances our market position and bolsters our project,” Ronci stressed.
Ivanović, a former player for Budućnost, has taken the reins of several clubs throughout his coaching career, with Virtus being his fifth team in the Euroleague—following stints with Baskonia, Barcelona, Panathinaikos, and Red Star.
He reached the peak of his achievements in Spain, where he became a champion with both Baskonia (previously Tau Keramika) and Barcelona.
