Today, Massimo Zanetti, president of Virtus, confirmed that Duško Ivanović will remain at the helm of the Bologna team for another season. He also mentioned that the Italian powerhouse will continue to compete in the Euroleague while addressing developments in our region.
During the press conference, he highlighted that the newly joined team in the AdmiralBet ABA League from Dubai is expected to participate in the Euroleague next season alongside Partizan and Red Star.
“We have already received a proposal for a three-year license along with Red Star and Partizan. Negotiations are necessary as these three years come with notable costs, and we need to reach a consensus. Additionally, there are many factors at play, especially with Dubai entering… Being present in these discussions is critical,” Zanetti remarked.
If these statements hold true, questions arise about the relevance of competing for the ABA League championship. It’s possible that Budućnost Voli could clinch the title, yet it might be challenging for the regional league to secure four spots in the European elite.
Currently, the Montenegrin club maintains the top position in the ABA League as the playoffs approach, sharing the same record as Partizan.
