The anticipated squad, the same “eagles” who recently competed at the European Championship in Dubrovnik and Zagreb, are gearing up for glory at the World Championship while also aiming for an Olympic spot.
Montenegro’s water polo coach, Vladimir Gojković, has revealed the roster of players set to compete in the World Cup in Doha.
As they prepared for the journey to Qatar, Darko Đurović, Dušan Banićević, Martin Gardašević, and Vuk Drašković were unable to secure their spots.
The World Cup kicks off on February 5, and the “sharks” will face off against the United States, Serbia, and Japan in their group. The top team advances directly to the quarterfinals, while the second and third place teams move to the knockout round.
If Gojković’s squad makes it to the quarterfinals, they’ll be in contention for one of the four remaining Olympic spots for the Paris Games.
In addition to Montenegro, stronger teams such as Italy, Serbia, and Croatia have yet to qualify for the Olympics.
