Founded in 2017, the club stands on the brink of making history, led by Montenegrins Dejan Radonjić and Marko Simonović.
Basketball team Bahçeşehir from Istanbul is poised for significant achievements tonight as the “red dragons” take on Gran Canaria in the Eurocup semi-finals, marking just eight years of existence.
The game at the “Sinan Erdem Dom” kicks off at 7 PM, with the winning team advancing to the finals, just one step away from the cup and a spot in the Euroleague.
“At the moment, our focus is not on the final but on the next game. We need to approach it step by step. I believe that the key to victory lies in this very approach,” Simonović shared, as reported by Turkish media.
The center is enjoying a stellar season along the Bosphorus, propelling his team to victories over Cedevita Olimpija and Gran Canaria in the opening match and similarly shining in Las Palmas during the second semifinal game, scoring four straight points to give his team a lead of 68:66 with just two seconds remaining.
Unfortunately, a mistake by CJ Massinburg (permitting two points and committing a foul) cost the Turkish team a spot in the finals. Radonjić’s squad aims to recover everything tonight in their home arena.
“Aside from the mishap in the second half, our defense was commendable. The series is tied now, but we will put forth our utmost effort to win the third match,” Radonjić stated emphatically.
While Bahçeşehir triumphed in the FIBA EuroCup in 2022, achieving success in the second-tier European competition would undoubtedly carry even greater significance.
The other semifinal promises to be another thrilling encounter, with Valencia set to host Hapoel Tel Aviv at 8:30 PM.
