“While a Ceasefire in Ukraine is Positive, True Peace Remains Distant”
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated this evening that the ceasefire regarding energy infrastructure in Ukraine holds significant value for both Ukraine and Russia, yet emphasized that the two nations remain distant from achieving peace.
Vučić made comments following the phone call between Presidents Donald Trump of the United States and Vladimir Putin of Russia, during which they reached an agreement on a 30-day ceasefire in the energy sector in Ukraine.
“While I believe we are far from peace, it’s positive to engage in discussions. A ceasefire concerning energy facilities is undeniably important for both Russia and Ukraine. Moving towards peace is crucial. I have consistently believed that peace will not be attainable until one side begins to realize greater achievements,” Vučić remarked.
He mentioned the importance of discussing free navigation in the Black Sea due to its implications for oil trade.
“Undoubtedly, the situation is shifting towards a calmer state, which is excellent news. However, I do not expect peace to be established swiftly or easily,” Vučić added, noting that it is a significant step forward and congratulating Trump on the development.
