The third Podgorica derby of the season holds significant implications for the AdmiralBet ABA League standings.
Buducnost Voli aims to maintain its leading position, while SC Derby seeks to enhance its playoff chances with a potential victory over the “blues.” The stakes are particularly high for Andrej Žakelj’s team, which is rallying its players to “mobilize” ahead of the matchup with the “students.”
“We faced some challenges this week with injuries, but our determination to win remains strong. We need to be more focused than in our previous games, as SC Derby is in good form and capable of exploiting any lapse in concentration,” Žakelj stated.
Buducnost shares the top spot with Partizan, who will be facing Igokea in this round.
“Derby is on an offensive surge, often making 15-20 three-pointers per game and showcasing aggression in offensive rebounds. While they know what they want, we have our objectives as well. I expect our team to approach the game with maximum effort and sustain good performance throughout,” Žakelj added.
In the previous encounter this season, Buducnost triumphed with a score of 107:84, and they performed even better in the Montenegrin Cup final, winning 105:104.
The SC Derby – Buducnost matchup is scheduled for Saturday at 18:00.
