Minister of Education, Science and Innovation Anđela Jakšić-Stojanović and Director of the State Property Administration, Koča Đurišić, signed an agreement today transferring the building of the former Children’s Department of the “Dr Simo Milošević” Institute in Igalo to the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation (MPNI), to adapt it for primary education needs.

This announcement was made today by the Ministry of National Education and Research.

“We would like to remind you that during its session on April 3, 2025, the Government of Montenegro adopted a conclusion to transfer the building of the former Children’s Department at the ‘Dr Simo Milošević’ Institute to the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation for management. Following the company’s restructuring plan and based on the Government’s decision, the State Property Administration purchased this building, which has a basic area of 1,897 square meters and a total area of 4,685 square meters,” the statement indicated.

The Ministry of Education and Science mentioned that a working team formed by the ministry will assess the facility’s requirements for adaptation to educational conditions, as well as its current condition, which has not been utilized for its primary purpose for several years.

“The team’s objective will also include drafting a project brief to facilitate the preparation of technical documentation for its reconstruction as soon as possible. We believe that by the second half of the year, all prerequisites will be in place to announce a tender for the works,” the statement continued.

Jakšić-Stojanović highlighted the significance of this contract signing for enhancing the quality of educational infrastructure in Herceg Novi.

“Addressing this matter will create improved conditions for the education of students at the ‘Ilija Kišić’ primary school, as well as for many students from Igalo who currently attend classes at other schools in the Municipality of Herceg Novi. If the activities proceed as planned, we anticipate that students from Igalo will finally have classes in their own locality,” she concluded.
