The Mornar basketball team had a promising match against Partizan in Belgrade, followed by their first win since November against Krka, but their momentum faltered again as they suffered a defeat to FMP in Železnik (26:87) in the 72nd round of the AdmiralBet ABA League.
“FMP rightfully celebrated their victory; they capitalized on every opportunity we offered, and I would say they achieved their win more easily than they anticipated,” remarked Mornar coach Mihailo Pavićević at the press briefing.
The team appeared disjointed for a good portion of the game, trailing by as many as 25 points.
“During preparation, my main focus was on managing turnovers, avoiding risky passes, and preventing fast breaks, which is the strongest aspect of our opponents’ game. Unfortunately, it felt like I was suggesting the opposite, especially in the first 27 minutes. When the concentration is lacking, a good result is hard to achieve,” Pavićević added.
A turning point came when they managed to close the gap from a 25-point deficit to just eight.
“We started playing smarter and more effectively, reducing the deficit to minus eight, but that was the extent of our comeback tonight,” concluded the Mornar coach.
