The Police Directorate (UP) released a statement today, confirming its collaboration with the Higher State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica to diligently investigate the murder of Ilija Bogdanović in Cetinje.
Bogdanović was fatally shot late last night, shortly after midnight.
“As this incident pertains to a criminal murder case, it requires the application of complex police, prosecutorial, and forensic measures. Since 13 hours have already elapsed since the incident, we urge everyone to be prudent and avoid publishing unverified information about the case, which may induce public distress and interfere with the ongoing investigation,” stated the UP.
The security agency also encouraged media outlets “to report the Police Directorate’s communications fully regarding severe crimes and crisis situations to prevent public confusion and misinformation, particularly evident in some reports concerning the Cetinje murder.”
“The Police Directorate, in association with the Higher State Prosecutor’s Office, will ensure timely updates to the public regarding the undertaken activities and any information that can be shared at that moment, so citizens remain informed about this matter,” added the UP.
