The Montenegrin women’s handball team triumphed over Romania with a score of 24:21 (5:4, 10:10, and 9:7) today in Podgorica, during the eighth round of the Cadet Mediterranean Championship.
This marks the fifth victory for the female cadet team in the championship, having previously won against Italy, Kosovo, Slovakia, and Turkey.
However, they also faced defeats by Croatia and Spain.
For their win against Romania, they earned 4.5 points: two points for the win, one point for each third won, and half a point for a draw in the second segment of the match.
Leading the Montenegrin team were Anđelina Orbović and Nejla Hodžić, each scoring six goals.
Later today, the Montenegrin national team will compete against Slovenia at 18:30.
As per the tournament regulations, matches in the Mediterranean Championship are divided into three quarters, each lasting 15 minutes.
A team that wins a quarter earns a point, while a victory at the match’s end grants two points.
If the third quarter ends in a tie, teams receive half a point each, whereas a draw at the end of the match results in both teams receiving one point.
