The Sutjeska basketball team triumphed over Primorje in Herceg Novi with a score of 107 to 23 tonight during the 103rd round of the First Montenegrin Basketball League, securing their spot in the NLB ABA2 League for the next season.
Teodo, having won against Podgorica last night (79:72), is also confirmed to participate in the regional competition.
Currently, Sutjeska boasts a record of 18-2, while Teodo stands at 17-3. Matches against SC Derby do not affect the standings, and results against Milenium, who withdrew after the eighth round, have been removed.
Teodo holds two more wins than both Primorje and Podgorica but has a superior head-to-head record against them. After this round, both Primorje and Podgorica are at 15-5, vying for third place, which could grant a special invitation to the ABA2 league next season. Podgorica has the advantage in their head-to-head matchups. Looking ahead to the end of the regular season, Primorje’s upcoming games are against SC Derbi, Jedinstvo, and Ibra, while Podgorica will face Vukovi, SC Derbi, and Dečić.
Sutjeska took an early lead in Herceg Novi, ending the first half ahead by 16 points (58:42) after a three-pointer from Starovlach. However, Primorje managed to close the gap to just nine points (60:51) before halftime.
In the third quarter, Boško Bošković’s squad achieved a maximum 20-point lead (73:53), but the game remained tense until the final minutes. Primorje reduced the margin to five points (84:79) at the outset of the fourth quarter. Meanwhile, Otašević made three three-pointers, and Barović scored two, pushing Sutjeska to a 95:79 lead.
The drama continued as Primorje executed a strong 13-0 run in three minutes, entering the last minute just three points behind at 102:99. Yet, Sutjeska held their composure, with Mitrović and Spasojević ensuring their team’s victory.
Spasojević was the standout performer for Sutjeska, scoring 18 points, while Otašević contributed 17. On the other hand, Primorje was missing Miljanić and Bjelić, with Obradović leading their efforts with 25 points, followed by Vučurović with 22.
