The Palestinian Ambassador to Montenegro, Rabi Alhantouli, recently visited the Municipality of Pljevlja, where he held discussions with Mayor Darija Vraneš.
“The meeting was characterized by mutual respect, allowing for discussions on potential collaboration in cultural and humanitarian initiatives. Both parties highlighted the significance of dialogue, solidarity, and friendly relations between the peoples of Palestine and Montenegro,” stated the Mayor’s office.
During the visit, the collective humanitarian exhibition titled “Palestine through Montenegrin Eyes” was inaugurated at the Public Institution Art Gallery “Vitomir Srbljanović,” in partnership with the Palestinian Embassy in Montenegro.
This exhibition showcases the support and solidarity of thirty-seven Montenegrin artists with the Palestinian people and will be accessible to the public from April 24 to May 16, 2025.
Vraneš remarked that the purpose of the gathering extends beyond an artistic event; it is a testament to humanity and solidarity with the people of Palestine, who are enduring a severe humanitarian crisis.
“As a nation, we understand what suffering entails. We cannot stand by silently while others suffer, especially the innocent, particularly children,” said Vraneš.
He further noted that the Municipality of Pljevlja feels obligated to convey a message of peace, compassion, and support.
“The image of a child amidst ruins—whether in Kosovo and Metohija in 1999 or in Gaza in 2025—requires our attention, reaction, and voice. This transcends politics; it is a matter of humanity,” Vraneš asserted.
Alhantouli expressed gratitude for the warm reception and underscored the importance of fostering cooperation with local communities in Montenegro, especially in terms of institutional and human solidarity during global crises.
“The Municipality of Pljevlja remains dedicated to transparency and collaboration with all diplomatic representatives in Montenegro to enhance relations and promote universal values of peace, understanding, and tolerance,” the statement concluded.
