Avoid Harmful Labels

Elementary statesmanship involves avoiding statements that fall outside one’s role and could negatively impact Montenegro’s international standing, according to Miodrag Laković, a parliament member from the Europe Now Movement (PES).
In a post on the Iks network, he addressed President Jakov Milatović’s comments on the agreement with the United Arab Emirates (UAE), asserting that while everyone has the right to question any law publicly and formulate their policies accordingly, there are established institutions tasked with determining criminal responsibility, and they operate independently and objectively.
“Thus, elementary statesmanship compels us to avoid making qualifications that do not correspond to our function, and which could also harm Montenegro’s international reputation and investment opportunities,” Laković remarked.
Milatović had previously stated that the agreement between Montenegro and the UAE regarding tourism cooperation is subject to controversy on multiple grounds and has called for both political and criminal accountability from those involved.
