A 68-year-old MP from Nikšić is under suspicion for setting his wife’s vehicle on fire following a heated argument, as reported by the Police Directorate (UP) today.
According to their statement, Nikšić police officers responded to a report regarding firefighters from the Nikšić Protection and Rescue Service tackling a blaze that had engulfed a vehicle near the Vrtačka Dam.
“When police arrived at the location, they discovered a VW Polo passenger vehicle with Nikšić license plates that had suffered front-end damage due to the fire. The vehicle’s owner was not present at that time,” the statement indicated.
The UP expressed that the officers suspected the MP of igniting the fire following a verbal altercation with his wife.
“During the criminal investigation, the victim requested that police officers caution the suspect, but she did not seek formal measures regarding the fire incident. The on-duty prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Nikšić was informed about the situation and stated that this constitutes a criminal offense of destruction and damage to another person’s property, which will be pursued through a private lawsuit,” the statement added.
