The Montenegro men’s handball team secured a victory against Georgia for the second time in less than 24 hours during the EHF week.

Following their win of 34:20 last night, Vlada Šola’s team continued to impress with a 29:19 triumph today in the “Verde” hall.

The “lions” showcased their superior quality over the Georgian team, allowing Šola to assess the players he intends to rely on in the upcoming period.

“Overall, we performed well over these seven days. We introduced several new players, and I am pleased with their contributions. This experience has been beneficial as we transitioned into a more relaxed environment,” stated Šola.

In the second match, goalkeeper Nebojša Simić was absent, allowing 11 players to register scores.

Leading the scoring was Vasilije Kaluđerović with nine goals, followed by Risto Vujacić with four, and both Miloš and Branko Vujović contributed three each…

Goalkeeper Nikola Matović recorded six saves in the first half, while Haris Suljević added five saves in the second half.

“Expanding our player base is our primary focus, and it reflects the priorities of both the Federation and our professional staff. With each game, we’re integrating new players who will help carry Montenegro’s game forward in the near future. We must approach the upcoming period with seriousness and strive for a breakthrough,” emphasized Šola.

These matches against Georgia served as preparation for the upcoming barrage for World Championship qualification scheduled for May.

Montenegro will learn its opponent in the play-off on Sunday evening, with Italy expected to be in contention.

The Italians are set to play a decisive match against Belgium at home after their initial victory of 29:25 a few days prior.

“Italy is favored going into the rematch, but anything is possible. The Italians are experienced, yet we must acknowledge our status as favorites and respect our opponent,” Šola concluded.
