Currently, the situation remains unclear, but more information regarding the potential expansion of this prestigious regional competition is expected by the end of April. In the meantime, it is evident that Barani is facing challenges in securing their position on the field.
With four rounds left in the regular season, Mornar sits at the bottom of the standings with only two victories—two fewer than their closest rival, Cibona, which holds a superior head-to-head record.
Coach Mihailo Pavićević’s team faces slim odds of escaping relegation; after the 27th round, they could mathematically drop to a lower division if they lose to Dubai and Cibona wins against Cedevita Olimpija in Ljubljana.
Mornar will host Dubai on Saturday at 19:30 p.m.
“We must perform at our best, remain strategic, and manage the game as effectively as possible. Our fate is not solely in our hands, as it heavily relies on our opponent, who is certainly more skilled,” noted Pavićević.
Dubai currently tops the standings, just two wins behind Budućnost Voli and Partizan, who are tied for first place.
“This presents a great opportunity for our fans to witness a very strong team in Bar. While we don’t pose much of a threat to Dubai, I anticipate that we will give our all and deliver an impressive performance,” Pavićević emphasized.
Having joined the ABA League this summer, Dubai is also a contender for the Euroleague next season.
Pavićević remarked, “Dubai exemplifies how a team can be rapidly assembled in just 10 days—when the financial resources are available, recruiting players becomes straightforward. Our opponent was structured to compete in the ABA League after missing out on Euroleague qualification and boasts high-quality players well-coached by Jurica Golemac. The results speak volumes; Dubai is a serious title contender in the ABA League.”
This round will feature the much-anticipated Budućnost – Partizan derby on Monday at 19:00 in the “M:tel Morača Hall,” while the match between Red Star and SC Derby has been postponed until May 1st.
