London, Rio de Janeiro, Tokyo… The “lionesses” have made their mark on the Olympic narrative three times, always showcasing their determination to lead the nation to triumph, be it in the historic moments of the UK or facing challenges in Brazil.
From April 11 to 14, Montenegrin handball players are set to vie for their fourth Olympic appearance, alongside Marina Rajčić.
“Attending another Olympic Games is a dream,” Marina expressed.
Before heading to the pre-Olympic tournament in Ulm, the “lionesses” are gearing up for two crucial matches in the European Championship qualifiers – tomorrow (Wednesday, 15:00) against Turkey in Rize and on Sunday against Bulgaria in Podgorica. While they have already secured their spot in the Euro, there’s no room for complacency.
“We definitely focus more on Ulm since those games carry greater significance, but we must approach our matches against Turkey and Bulgaria with full concentration to ensure we remain healthy,” Marina added.
Their upcoming opponents in Ulm (Germany, Slovenia, and Paraguay) have been meticulously analyzed…
“We received the materials in time; we never rush our preparations. Right now, our focus is on strategizing for the matches against Turkey and Bulgaria next week,” asserted the Montenegrin goalkeeper.
The “lionesses” encountered no difficulties against their last two rivals during the Euro qualifiers, having previously triumphed against Turkey in Podgorica (39:23) and Bulgaria in Shumen (34:20).
“We’re aware of the challenges ahead, as these matches will be demanding despite seeming easier than those in Germany. Proper preparation is essential for our upcoming Olympic qualification tournament, and maintaining our health is a priority to ensure we arrive in Ulm fully ready,” Marina concluded.
