Petar Lazović, a police officer from Montenegro, declared his innocence today at the Higher Court in Podgorica concerning accusations of kidnapping the alleged victim, Goran Brajović.

He noted that during his three years in custody, individuals who previously faced police harassment only recall him, as if he acted on his own.

“This is similar to the saying, ‘the frog saw the horses being shod, so it also raised its legs.’ I have not committed any of the acts I’m accused of. It seems to be a trend that I’m blamed for everything occurring in Montenegro, from arrests to torture and kidnappings,” Lazović remarked at the indictment review hearing.

His lawyer, Nikola Martinović, argued that the indictment lacks merit, asserting that there is no supportive evidence against Lazović.

“No evidence definitively proves that Petar Lazović was in Nikšić on the alleged date, much less that he had contact with the injured party. The injured party himself confirmed this,” said Martinović.
