The volleyball clubs Budva and Buducnost Volej will represent Montenegro in the MEVZA league beginning next season.
This will mark the first time our clubs participate in this esteemed regional tournament.
The MEVZA (Central European Volleyball Zonal Association) league features clubs from Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, Slovakia, and Hungary.
The men’s team from Budva will represent Montenegro, while both the men’s and women’s teams from Buducnost Volej will compete in the inaugural edition of Montenegrin representatives.
“This is a significant step towards enhancing regional collaboration and internationally showcasing domestic clubs. There is a possibility that, in addition to Budva and Buducnost, at least one more club may join the MEVZA league, which will be confirmed in the near future,” stated OSCG President Nikola Kažić.
MEVZA League Director Frane Žanić expressed his enthusiasm about the inclusion of Montenegrin teams in the league.
“The addition of new teams will introduce more dynamics and quality to the league, enriching the entire competition,” said Žanić.
President of OK Budva, Balša Radunović, stated that being part of the MEVZA League is a tremendous honor for the club.
“Budva’s ambitions extend beyond mere participation; we aim to assert ourselves as a competitive and equal team in this arena,” Radunović added.
Head of Buducnost, Miloš Mitrović, noted that their entry into the MEVZA League stems from a clear vision, strategic planning, and long-term dedicated efforts.
“It is a great honor for our club to be among the participants in this prestigious regional competition,” remarked Mitrović.
